Employment Connection helps hard working people find jobs to meet their needs. EC has numerous resources and a team of experts that provide quality training, job placement assistance and career advice.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Employment Connection is to provide a full range of services to hard working individuals who, through no fault of their own and because of major economic changes, find themselves unemployed. The Center brings an abundance of resources to provide quality training, job placements, new business opportunities, a spirit of mutual self-helpand success to people who want to return to work and add to the prosperity of Cuyahoga County.The Center performs its work in one convenient location that is totally dedicated to this mission,and recovery services are provided in a prompt, professional, friendly way.

Self-Directed Services

Available to all EC members, our Self-Directed Services give you the basic tools you need to find a job. You can use our telephones, fax machines, copiers, computers, printers and Internet access to find the best jobs in Northeast Ohio. Our staff will tell you about the most recent job openings, help you write a resume and develop your networking skills.


Workshops

The Center offers several workshops to assist you in career planning and your job search.  The following workshops are available to all job seekers:

§         Resume Writing Workshop

§         Applications and Marketing Letters Workshop

§         Interviewing Techniques Workshop

§         Introduction to the Internet Workshop

§         Labor Market Information Workshop

Additional workshops are available to members eligible for Workforce Investment Act assistance. (See Orientation Presentation for more information).

If you enroll in these workshops, our staff will help you develop a career plan. We'll look at your interests, skills and career goals. After this, our staff will meet with you individually to customize a job search that meets your goals.

As part of these services, we also offer numerous courses to help you develop the skills employers look for in new hires. Subjects include Introduction to Word 97, Introduction to Excel, Introduction to PowerPoint, Interpersonal Communications and more.

Job Search & Placement Assistance

These services provide EC members with help throughout the job search process. Our experienced job developers have employer contacts, so they find out about jobs before anyone else. Our staff will customize a job search for you and give you as many job leads as possible.

The next part, getting the job, is up to you. Though we can't interview for you, we can give you tips on interviewing. Our staff will help you learn various job-hunting techniques, including resume development, interviewing and networking.

Training

Employers want skilled employees. If you want to learn new skills to increase your chances of finding a job, we can teach you. Our computer software and Internet courses can provide you with the skills you need to boost your resume and catch the eye of your future employer.

If you need more specific occupational training, we can help you apply for additional Workforce Investment Act funding. If you receive this funding, you can enroll in training programs at state-accredited universities, technical schools or training centers.
